On September 9, we are organizing an inspiring dinner around the Enhanced Vigilance Program at Shell. During this event, we will explore how organizations can manage insider threats without creating a culture of distrust. Hans IJkel, General Manager Cyber Defence & Deputy CISO at Shell, will share his insights on the design of the program, the steps taken so far, the challenges and dilemmas encountered, and the results achieved to date. Although the Enhanced Vigilance Program is still in full swing, this session offers valuable lessons and best practices to strengthen security within organizations.
An important topic of discussion is the balance between trust and control: how far can you go as an organization in monitoring and detection without undermining trust in employees? In addition, Hans discusses how other organizations deal with this issue and what considerations underlie their strategies. Another crucial question that will be addressed is how to determine the difference between a genuine mistake and intentional misconduct. For example, if an employee forwards a work email to his or her private account — is that an innocent mistake or a deliberate violation?
We look forward to an open and valuable conversation about this important theme. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to network, learn, and exchange experiences with Hans and other professionals in the field. You are most welcome!
