Han Slootweg, COO at Enexis, is responsible for all technical and customer operations at the organisation. He began his career as a Network Strategist at Essent, after completing his PhD at Delft University of Technology, and has worked at Enexis since its formation in 2008, holding positions in innovation, asset management and operations. In the years prior to his current role, he served as Director of Asset Management, responsible for the extension and maintenance strategy of Enexis’s gas and electricity grids, and played an active role within the Dutch grid operators’ association Netbeheer Nederland. He also held a part time professorship at Eindhoven University of Technology from 2009 to 2024.
Enexis is facing one of the biggest challenges of the energy transition: the electrification of the energy system is pushing increasingly against the limits of the existing grid. At the same time, as international tensions rise and society and economy grow ever more dependent on electricity, the digital and physical resilience of the energy supply is gaining importance. In this session, you will hear directly from Han Slootweg, COO at Enexis, how the network operator is addressing these major challenges.
