CTO JIVC
Olivier Sessink is CTO at JIVC, the IT company of the Ministry of Defense; with 6,000 FTEs, it’s the largest ICT organization within the government. In this role, he is responsible for strategic technology choices, architecture, and innovation within the digital backbone of Defense. With his extensive experience in the complex IT environment of Defense, he flawlessly distinguishes actual risks from emotions and separates effective measures from symbolic politics. Thanks to his background in innovation within the armed forces, Olivier has developed a keen insight into the impact of digital transformation.
Under pressure from a changing geopolitical situation, Defence is transforming into a high-tech, information-driven organization. As conflicts increasingly have a digital dimension, the continuity of IT and data exchange is crucial. Therefore, themes such as digital resilience, autonomy, and sovereignty have long been core tenets of Defence’s IT strategy and are now also being incorporated into the Dutch Digitalisation Strategy (NDS). The challenge, however, lies in practical implementation: how do you truly give substance to these themes and translate the NDS’s ambitions into practice?
Olivier Sessink, CTO at JIVC (the IT company of the Ministry of Defence), will introduce you to these issues as a prelude to a discussion on these themes, and share the strategic choices he makes. Are you curious about the Defence approach and would you like to discuss these themes with Olivier and the other participants afterwards? You are most welcome!
