About the Topic

Join us for our Vision Dinner with John Blazey, Senior Director of Engineering at Booking.com, where he will challenge us to reconsider our perspectives on comfort and growth.

Drawing on his extensive experience at companies such as Coolblue, BMW, and TomTom, John will share his insights on the theme “Transcending the Limitation of Comfort.”

He will introduce the concept of “Never Feel Comfortable” (NFC) — an approach that advocates embracing discomfort — and discuss how both new and traditional leadership paradigms within software and product development can contribute to an environment where success can flourish. Together with you, he will explore how the urge for comfort often hinders personal, team, and corporate growth, and how we are naturally inclined to prefer comfort over the messy, risky, but ultimately rewarding path of evolution.

This presentation aims to initiate a dynamic dialogue with attendees — to stimulate mutual learning and promote continuous development towards environments that embrace discomfort as the key to greater success.

Are you ready to explore these essential themes and challenge your own comfort zone?

John Blazey

Senior Director of Software Development

Booking.com has always been a pioneer, with a mission to shape the future of travel through advanced technology — making it easier for everyone to enjoy great experiences anywhere in the world. At Booking.com, John was previously responsible for the core funnel, including Web and mobile apps, and now leads teams focused on the Connected Trip (the next step in Booking.com’s evolution), Genius loyalty, identity management, post-booking experience, order platform, customer service technology, and contact center/messaging platforms. And yes — AI is extensively used and integrated across all these areas (but we probably won’t discuss that).
In his role, John focuses on delivering more value and innovation by motivating engineering talent and creating an environment where success is possible.
