More on the subject

During this Sustainability Circle, Muriel Arts will take us to the Dutch peat meadow areas: the iconic landscape of green fields, grazing cows, waterways, and windmills. It is a landscape where agriculture, dairy, construction, water management, government, and the financial sector all have a stake.

Drawing on her experience at Unilever, Grolsch, and KPN, Muriel will share an entrepreneurial story about sustainability and creating shared value. We spend considerable time breaking down silos within our organizations. But what if the silos that really matter are between organizations and sectors?

What if companies that depend on the same landscape could invest together rather than act alone, at a fraction of the cost? Could protecting nature also strengthen supply chains, reduce business risk, capture new market opportunities, and create economic value? And who should pay how much when the benefits are shared by many?

These questions are at the heart of Muriel’s approach to bringing organizations together to co-fund regenerative agriculture and nature-based solutions, with the aim of creating more resilient landscapes while generating sustainable business value. Muriel will apply this thinking to the Dutch peat meadows and challenge us to consider where sustainability stops being a cost and starts becoming a shared business proposition.

Expect an inspiring story, plenty of room for discussion and the exchange of different perspectives, followed by an informal end-of-year gathering with drinks and small bites at The Green House, Utrecht.
