About the speaker

Sander Kerstens

Sander Kerstens

Director Central Data & Analytics Organization

Sander is trained as both a mathematician and a teacher, and previously worked as an Advanced Analytics consultant at KPMG. He also held the position of Expert Advanced Analytics at Van Lanschot Kempen. At Vanderlande, Sander was given the opportunity to build a central data & analytics organization from the ground up. As Director of the CDAO (Central Data & Analytics Organization), he works on the strategy and vision for the department, the data platform, and Data & Analytics within Vanderlande as a whole. Together with various senior stakeholders, he is fully committed to making Vanderlande an insights-driven organization.

More on the subject

In recent years, Vanderlande has transformed into a digital, data-driven organization – both in customer-oriented solutions and in internal processes. This transition addresses increasing business complexity, customer expectations, data volume, regulations, and limited data quality and insights. Under the leadership of Sander Kerstens, Director of the Central Data & Analytics Organization, among others, the company has introduced a scalable operating model, established a modern data architecture, and developed a structured approach to data literacy. Vanderlande opts for a hybrid model in which centralized data management is combined with data mesh principles, with an emphasis on data product thinking, governance, and clear ownership.

During this Vision Dinner, he will take you through his transformation journey to date, but he also wants to start a conversation about questions such as: When is a transformation really complete (if it ever is)? When is the time to scale down the central data team in phases? And how do you deal with unexpected, rapid developments such as GenAI within your long-term strategy?

Sander’s presentation kicks off a dialogue with him and the other participants. Are you curious about his journey, and would you like to share your vision on the questions asked? Join us on September 16!
