Vice Admiral Boudewijn Boots combines over 35 years of operational experience at sea within his career in the Royal Netherlands Navy and in international missions with senior management roles up to Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces (PCDS) in the rank of Vice Admiral, where he is co-responsible for Special Operations Command and Cyber Command. He is also a member of the Cyber Security Council.

Since December 2024, he has held the independent role of IGK, in which he advises the minister and promotes the crucial interests of defense personnel, veterans, and reservists. His style is characterized by accessibility, empathy, and substantive sharpness, based on broad practical experience.
