The global technological landscape is changing rapidly. Whereas ecosystems were previously primarily focused on efficiency and global collaboration, they are increasingly shaped by geopolitical tensions and strategic interests. Developments in the United States and China demonstrate that technology not only has economic value, but also plays a key role in security, power dynamics, and national resilience.
For Europe and the Netherlands, this raises fundamental questions. How can we remain innovative and competitive in a world of technological bloc formation? How can we reduce strategic dependencies in global value chains? And how can we ensure that companies active in critical technologies, such as semiconductors, develop sufficient resilience to withstand geopolitical, economic, and technological shocks?
